The reusable Bee Cup has launched across campus
The University of Manchester has recently launched a reusable and sustainable cup scheme in collaboration with Manchester City Council and InOurNature. The reusable Bee Cup can be found in several hot drink locations across campus and on Oxford Road, encouraging our students and staff to sip sustainably wherever they go.
Developed as part of our Environmental Sustainability strategy, the scheme aims to significantly reduce the number of single-use paper cups used at our campus café locations every year. Staff and students who use the Bee Cup will get it for free (if it’s returned within 14 days), whereas there will be a 50p charge for any disposable cups.
Several locations on Oxford Road in Manchester will be taking part in the scheme alongside every café on campus. This includes:
- The Students’ Union
- Benugo
- Royal Northern College of Music
- Eighth Day
- Bold Street
Staff and Students who want to use the Bee Cup scheme can get their first drink for free once they have downloaded the Bee Cup app called Vytal. Once finished with a cup, they can be returned to any of the named locations at the designated return point, where they will be washed and reused.
- Download the Vytal app and start using the Bee Cup.
