University of Manchester host the Spirit of Manchester Awards
On the 6 October the University had the privilege of hosting the Spirit of Manchester Awards. The Spirit of Manchester Awards are a celebration of voluntary and community action in Manchester organised by Manchester Community Central (Macc). Macc is the organisation which supports the voluntary community and social enterprise sector in the city of Manchester. They work with a range of partners and other organisations to increase and develop the support available to the city’s 3,300+ voluntary organisations, community groups, charities and social enterprises. The University supports Macc and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector as part of our commitment as civic partner in Manchester.
Dr Julian Skyrme, Director of Social Responsibility and Trustee of Macc opened the awards ceremony. He says: “As an anchor institution in Manchester and Greater Manchester we recognise the critical role the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector plays across the city. It was fantastic to be part of, and to help make happen, the celebration of their work. We saw winners from across the sector including work with our own Cultural Institutions.”
- Details of all the winners can be found on the Macc website.
