World Water Day

World Water DayWorld Water Day, held on 22 March every year since 1993, celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is a recognised United Nations (UN) observance day that highlights the importance of fresh water.

Not only this, but it is also relevant to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • Goal 6 – To ensure access to water and sanitation for all.
  • Goal 14 – To conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

Manchester University Press are known globally for excellent research in the Humanities and Social Sciences from leading names and up-and-coming scholars from around the world. We currently publish over 200 books each year, as well as five journals.

To mark World Water Day, Manchester University Press are compiling a reading list of our titles, across disciplines, which explore, analyse and celebrate water and our relationship to it.
