Making our planet sustainable is a goal that our students are passionate about.

Experts from the University and the Anna Freud Centre are working with leaders from Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and the city-region’s secondary schools on a major new project that will survey children about their wellbeing and preparedness for life beyond school, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She is also on the board of the Urban Big Data Centre, providing advice on the role of social science in understanding how big data can be used to improve lives, and advising on how future data scientists can be trained to develop the necessary skills to equip them in these emerging careers.

The Gateways programme supports approximately 1,700 widening participation pupils across 48 Greater Manchester schools, by providing essential information, advice and guidance (IAG) about higher education.
