John Dalton 250th Anniversary Sportive

A team of staff and students from the University’s Dalton Nuclear Institute and its Dalton Cumbrian Facility are cycling 143 miles from Cumbria to Manchester on 7&8 July to celebrate the life and achievements of John Dalton and raise money for the Stroke Association.

Children from 20 schools join forces to create musical robots

Children from 20 schools across Greater Manchester have joined forces with engineers from Siemens, music experts from the Hallé Orchestra and academics from The University of Manchester to create musical robots for the University’s ‘robot orchestra’ project.

The University has awarded Francesca Gains (Politics and policy@manchester) and Kevin Ward (Geography and cities@manchester) an ESRC (Economic and Social Ressearch Council) Impact Accelerator Award to establish a hub for the University’s impact work on Devo Manc and the Northern Powerhouse.
