Apply Now for the Standing up for Science Workshop – 20 March 2026
Calling all early career researchers – The Office for Social Responsibility are hosting a Standing up for science workshop on Friday 20 March.
This workshop is run by Sense about Science’s Voice of Young Science (VoYS) Network, a growing international community of Early Career Researchers (ECRs), who want to take an active role in public conversations about science and evidence but need more support and guidance.
To apply for your free place at a Standing up for Science workshop register directly via this link: Friday 20 March – University of Manchester (In person)
At these workshops, you will hear directly from researchers further along in their careers about their experience, and what advice they would give, when working with the media and policy worlds. You will also hear directly from experienced media and policy professionals who will bust common misconceptions about how the media and policy worlds work and learn what they need from scientists to operate effectively.
The workshops also include interactive sessions to support ECRs with practical tools and resources on the importance of talking about evidence. Particularly on topics where the public conversation can go wrong, for example when talking about uncertainty, limitations of research, risk, and peer review.
