The Green Man Festival is held near the Black Mountains in Wales and attracts 20,000 festival goers. The festival has earned a reputation as one of the great independent festivals in the UK. In 2010 Green Man won ‘Best Medium Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards and in 2012 the ‘Grass Roots Festival Award’. The 2014 festival dates are 14/15/16/17 August.

Einstein’s Garden is a creative fusion of science, art and nature. Our venues are packed with a vibrant programme of performances, workshops and installations that use art, entertainment and participation to engage people with the diverse aspects of science and nature in fun, quirky and unexpected ways.

We are looking for organisations that would like to bring a stall to Einstein’s Garden with the aim of engaging festival audiences with science. Stalls could explore fundamental scientific ideas or phenomena, the process of science or current scientific research. It is essential that stalls include as much interactivity and participation as possible for festival goers and that they embody the creative and playful spirit of Einstein’s Garden. Einstein’s Garden is a family friendly area of the festival so stalls should be suitable for children and adults. Previous science stalls have included: ‘The Periodic Table Quilt’, ‘The Egg and Sperm Race’ and ‘The Laboratory of Neuroillusions’.

Previous Einstein’s Garden stalls holders have said that the working with the Green Man audience has been some of the best science engagement they have ever experienced.

From 2014 we are charging organisations a fee to bring a stall to Einstein’s Garden. This decision has been made in order to develop Einstein’s Garden and improve it’s financial sustainability. The fee for standard stalls (up to 4mx4m) will be £250. Fees for larger stalls will be negotiable on a case-by-case basis. There will be a limited number of free pitches available for small organisations.

We expect organisations who apply to bring a stall to Einstein’s Garden to be able to support their stall holders participation in the festival and cover all materials, equipment, travel and subsistence expenses. Stall holders must provide their own small marquee. The stall must be set up by 6pm on Wednesday 13 August (for a site-wide health and safety inspection) and your stall must be open from 12 midday until 8pm on 14 August and from 10am until 8pm on 15, 16 and 17 August. There will be no power available for stalls and no generators are allowed in Einstein’s Garden so if your stall does need power you must provide your own renewable energy. All stall holders must have comprehensive public liability insurance.

If you would like to apply to run a science stall in Einstein’s Garden please complete the online form here:
www.greenman.net/get-involved/einstein-s-garden-science-stalls by Monday 14 April.

The Green Man Festival will provide tickets for successful applicants but we are unable to cover any expenses or provide meal vouchers.

Please note that information about Science Stalls will be included on the Green Man Festival website but can not be included in the festival programme.
