A new Unit has been launched to ensure devolution and economic growth bring real benefits to disadvantaged people and places across Greater Manchester.

The Inclusive Growth Analysis Unit (IGAU) has been established in partnership by the independent Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) and the University of Manchester.

The Unit aims to work collaboratively to help realise the Greater Manchester vision that: “We will be a city region where all people are valued and able to fully participate in and benefit from the city region’s success, where every resident, neighbourhood and every borough can contribute to and benefit from our shared sustainable future”.

The Unit is supported by a strategic advisory group comprising of a mix of private, public and third sector representatives from across Greater Manchester. It will work through applying existing research and insight, convening stakeholders and pooling knowledge through a blog and events, as well as through undertaking thier own new research. They will also monitor progress on poverty reduction and inclusive growth.

Launched at the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce on Friday 15 April, Ruth Lupton will lead the Unit at the University.

More information can be found on the Unit's website.
