Our top five stories for November
Here are five highlights from our last social responsibility newsletter of the year.
Firstly, we are excited to announce that our annual Making a Difference Awards for social responsibility and civic engagement are open for entries. If you are a student, member of staff, alumnus or a member of our community, we want to hear how you or someone you know is making a difference.
Following an £8m investment, the University is set to lead the JUST Centre, an innovative research centre focused on the pursuit of sustainability transformations that are people-centred, ‘joined-up’ and socially just.
The University has partnered with Friends of Medlock Valley, a local community group, to promote biodiversity in inner city Manchester.
As part of the University’s commitment to Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement, we have recently launched a new staff volunteering policy. The policy provides all employees with the opportunity to request up to three days paid leave (pro-rata) per holiday year to participate in a volunteering activity of their choosing.
Lastly, Manchester Museum celebrated Diwali, giving people of all ages and cultures the opportunity to get involved with the spirit of the festival.
