Hong Kong community day

The University’s Alliance Manchester Business School Alumni Association in Hong Kong (AMBSAA (HK)) held its first social responsibility event of the year on 12 January 2025 in the bustling Central Business District of Hong Kong. This year’s event was centered around the ACCA theme: 75 Years in Hong Kong: A Relay of Love for a Better Future, emphasising the importance of community and support for local initiatives.

Since 2006, The University of Manchester East Asia Centre has proudly supported the ACCA Rickshaw Race, a cherished tradition for AMBSAA (HK) and its members. This flagship charitable event brings together alumni and current students to contribute to a noble cause while fostering camaraderie and teamwork.

This year, 22 teams from various corporations and educational institutions participated, showcasing their enthusiasm and commitment to social responsibility. Among the participants were 18 alumni and cohorts, including AMBSAA (HK) Honorary Advisory Christina Siu and Head of Philanthropy (Asia) Anthony Chan, who joined in the excitement. Each team consisted of four pullers, one passenger, and two assistants, working together to navigate the lively streets of Hong Kong. For some alumni and cohorts, this was their first experience participating in such a vibrant event, further strengthening the sense of community and shared purpose.

The atmosphere was electric, with participants enjoying the thrill of the race under sunny skies. Laughter and cheers filled the air as teams raced through the streets, embodying the spirit of teamwork and dedication.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to all AMBS alumni and cohorts for their participation, as well as to the East Asia Centre for their sponsorship and coordination of this event. The commitment to social responsibility continues to be demonstrated through support for initiatives that benefit local charitable organisations. By working together, a meaningful difference can be made.
