Introducing the Stellify Award for Masters students

Stellify posterThe postgraduate version of The University of Manchester’s unique award supporting personal development and graduate outcomes launched in September 2023.

The award has been specifically designed to run alongside postgraduate studies, encouraging students to make a difference and contribute to the community in a positive way.

Through volunteering, leadership roles, and completing challenges around ethics, social justice and sustainability, students will not only take action to help causes they truly care about but will also be prepared for life after university by engaging with areas of the University outside of their studies.

The Stellify Award is a fantastic initiative that not only encourages personal growth but also promotes social responsibility among postgraduate-taught students at the University. By engaging with Ethical Grand Challenges, volunteering, and taking on leadership roles, students can make a positive impact on the community and gain valuable experiences outside of their studies.

Moreover, the Stellify Award is an excellent way for students to prepare for life after university. By gaining real-world experience and developing a unique set of skills, students will be better equipped to face challenges and make a difference in their future careers.

The award is divided into three areas, each designed to help students achieve a specific goal:

  • The “Understand the Issues that Matter” section requires students to complete two out of three Ethical Grand Challenges (which include Sustainability, Social Justice, and Workplace Ethics). By completing these challenges, students will gain a deeper understanding of important social issues and learn how to make a positive impact.
  • The “Make a Difference” section encourages students to complete ten hours of volunteering, which benefits the wider community. This not only helps students develop a sense of social responsibility but also allows them to give back to the community and make a meaningful difference.
  • Finally, the “Champion for Change” section requires students to take on a leadership role where they can be an agent for change, such as representing the voice of their peers or helping to make change happen at the University. This section helps students develop important leadership skills and learn how to affect change in their communities.

Overall, the Stellify Award for Masters students is an excellent way for our students to develop a sense of social responsibility and gain valuable experiences outside of their studies.
