Our work on SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production
The 17 SDGs are the world’s call to action on the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing humanity and the natural world, and we’re playing a key role in tackling them.
The quality and scale of our impact against the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is ranked among the top ten in the world in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings in 2022.
SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production, is one of the areas The University of Manchester is leading the way. We have been ranked seventh out of 606 global institutions for our work on SDG 12 thanks to a number of activities across the University.
Here are just a few of our operational measures targeting SDG 12:
- We measure the amount of waste sent to landfill and recycled, creating waste disposal objectives and an action plan for the minimisation of plastic use.
- Our Socially Responsible Investment Policy and Sustainable procurement targets ensure that these policies extend to our outsourced suppliers.
Our research, collaborations and partnerships also make a difference on a global scale. By creating a healthier, fairer and greener world we’re delivering on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
