University launches new literary series, Novel Voices
The University is launching a new literary series featuring Ellah P. Wakatama in conversation with 10 debut authors.
Taking place between February and April 2021, Novel Voices will feature five online events, each showcasing two exceptional debut authors. Following a similar format to 2020’s The Complete Works, Ellah P. Wakatama (Editor-at-Large at Canongate Books and Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for New Writing) will be in conversation with the authors about their craft and journey towards publishing their first, full body of work.
The series is presented by Creative Manchester, the Centre for New Writing and Blackwell’s Bookshop. Together with Ellah, they have selected 10 genre-spanning authors whose range of narratives reflect the literary landscape of 2021.
These authors are largely from underrepresented backgrounds, and are affiliated with a range of independent and corporate publishing houses. Paired based on thematic similarities in their work, they will be invited to explore the influences, experiences and structures that helped shape their narrative tone, voices and approaches.
Places can be booked via Eventbrite.
