Our top five stories in June

Here are 5 top stories from June:

The University of Manchester has been ranked 1st in the world for impact towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the THE Sustainabilty Impact Ratings! The result places Manchester at the top of a global field of 1,603 universities from 114 countries and territories.

We hosted our annual Universally Manchester Festival, welcoming thousands of people from across Greater Manchester onto our campus. It was a day filled with free, fun activities for all ages and a space for people to explore, connect and learn together.

For Refugee Week, we hosted an event on what it means to be a University of Sanctuary. The event brought together local charities, academics, our cultural institutions and students, creating space to listen and have open conversations about how we can build a more inclusive university.

We celebrated the passion and dedication of our students and colleagues during National Volunteering Week. In our June newsletter, you can hear a range of inspiring stories, from helping to make our city greener with City of Trees, to a student who founded a parkrun while studying abroad at the University of Osaka in Japan.

As students head home for the summer, we are working with Manchester Metropolitan University and Manchester City Council to help them donate unwanted items to charity through Give It, Don’t Bin It. All money raised from donations is given to the British Heart Foundation.
