Social Responsibility

Our Alumni office is working with the University’s global alumni community to actively contribute towards our social responsibility goals.

Last year as part of the University’s development of a new strategy we asked all our staff what type of University we wanted to be.

The Panamanian jungle is lush, pristine and very humid; the waters in its rivers are crystal clear.

Dr Dawn Edge, a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Psychology & Mental Health, was part of the University’s delegation, led by Professor Stephen Flint, Associate Vice-President for Internationalisation, who were invited to take part in a joint workshop at the University of Ghana at the beginning of May with colleagues from the N8 Research Partnership and the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA).

The University hosted the annual Oxford Road Corridor Active Travel Event (AcT2019) at Brunswick Park on 1 May.

The annual University Volunteer of the Year Awards took place in the Whitworth Hall on 2 May 2019.

Between January 2005 and the end of January 2019, the total figure donated by University staff via our Payroll Giving Scheme reached £1million!

Last week a number of MCRStrollers joined Invisible Manchester for a tour of the city that was supported by the Directorate of Social Responsibility.

On 25 April, the Faculty of Science and Engineering hosted its first Faculty-wide Girls into STEM event.
