Facing surgery is a difficult reality for many people with Epilepsy – a condition which almost one in every hundred people have.

The Volunteer of the Year Awards took place in the Whitworth Hall on Tuesday 1 May and staff, students and alumni came together to recognise extraordinary volunteering contributions across a diverse range of projects.

Over 30,000 (WOW!) children across the country have already registered to share their science as part of the Great Science Share for Schools on the 19 June.

Wednesday 9 May saw 123 Key Stage 4 and 5 pupils from across Greater Manchester arrive at The University of Manchester, accompanied by approximately 120 parents/carers and teachers to celebrate graduating The Scholars Programme.

May 2018 marks the launch of HCRI’s 10 year anniversary.

In April, to coincide with Earth Day, ‘A Rubbish Night at the Museum’ was launched.

Staff from the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health volunteered at The Mustard Tree, a charity that has been transforming the lives of people who are trapped in poverty or homelessness in Greater Manchester, since 1994.

In an emergency situation healthcare professionals play a pivotal role.

On 27 April, the Schools of Physics and Astronomy, Materials and Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering organised a day of inspiring activities for young girls to mark Bring your Daughter to Work Week – part of the WISE campaign for gender balance in science, technology and engineering.
