The school governor initiative, now in its 6th year, continues to hit new highs with an increased number of staff becoming school governors in recent months.

The University of Manchester has its roots in 19th century workers’ education, the city’s medical schools, and a university college that would become England’s first civic university.

Policy@Manchester’s first ever Budget “Hack” Day took place on 8 March.

Under the Catalyst Fund established by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), the University has been successful in a proposal designed to improve outcomes for students from low socio-economic groups and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) students and students that experience mental ill health.

Work has begun on the co-production of a guide to good practice to inform community engagement and sustainable management models for public parks.

The Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health Social Responsibility Team is pleased to announce the launch of the FBMH Social Responsibility Update, a quarterly newsletter dedicated to increasing awareness of how the Faculty is engaging with communities, how we are making a difference and how you can get involved.

Earlier this month members of staff and students from all over the University took part in activities for RAG Week, raising money for International Equity and Merit Scholarships at the University.

A whole host of diverse and interactive events and activities for staff, students and the public took place across the University’s campus to celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March.

Earlier this month the School of Law were delighted to hear that the Legal Advice Centre had won the Best Pro Bono/Community Initiative at the Manchester Legal Awards 2017 for their Dementia Law Clinic run in partnership with national mental health charity Making Space.

Dr Sheena Cruickshank is one of 15 Fellows chosen by the world’s largest general scientific organization.
