MSC Summer School 2019: Journey to Medicine

This year the Widening Participation team in the Division of Medical Education ran their first ever residential summer school for aspiring medical students from widening participation backgrounds.

Global Goals Yearbook

Following the University’s recent success in the 2019 Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings, where the University was ranked first in Europe and third in the world for our social and environmental impact, and the publication of our Sustainable Development Goals report, we have further highlighted our impact in a double-page feature in the Global Goals Yearbook 2019.

University rewards a tireless campaigner

Dr Hamied Haroon, a Research Associate at the School of Health Sciences and ‘a force of nature’, according to his colleagues in our Office of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, has been named the University’s Staff Volunteer of the Year 2019.

Creative Manchester poetry competition

Earlier in the year Creative Manchester launched its inaugural Poetry Competition, which invited staff, students and alumni of the University to submit a poem themed around ‘Manchester means the world to me’.

Joint modern slavery awareness event

The University, in conjunction with colleagues from The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO) hosted an event on 13 June to raise awareness of modern slavery in supply chains.

Great Science Share

Tuesday 18 June saw the celebration of the fourth Great Science Share for Schools – an annual campaign to inspire young people to share their scientific questions with new audiences.

Dancing with your brain
