Policy Engagement Workshop for UoM researchers – 26 November
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If you would like to attend please register your interest by emailing policy@manchester.ac.uk
This day long Policy@Manchester event is aimed at researchers from across The University of Manchester wishing to advance their policy skills. The morning will be split into 3 separate interactive sessions:
- Examining who are the decision-makers and considering the importance of research in good policy making.
- Considering the role of politics in policymaking, where attendees will understand the competing influences on politicians and policymakers’ decisions.
- Looking at strategy and communication – how academics can engage with and influence policy development.
After lunch, participants will then hear from decision makers themselves talking about the importance of accurate and timely research, and specifically how select committees and MPs engage with universities and academics to inform policy.
There will be an opportunity to ask them some of your own questions before concluding the day with an open Q&A session.
The training will be provided by Quatro who have first-hand experience of working in Parliament, for a government minister and political parties, and extensive experience of designing and executing communication campaigns for a wide range of organisations.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If you would like to attend what promises to be an exciting training day please register your interest by emailing policy@manchester.ac.uk
If you have any questions, or need any further information please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
