The University’s recent Sustainability Fair was a fantastic showcase of the ethical and sustainable choices available on campus. With a vibrant mix of students, staff, and visitors in attendance, the event highlighted the our commitment to responsible consumption and gave attendees the chance to engage directly with suppliers championing sustainability. 

The fair featured a range of stalls hosted by our Food on Campus suppliers, each sharing insights into their Fairtrade, ethical, and sustainable product ranges. Visitors had the opportunity to ask questions, learn about responsible food sourcing, and sample some delicious free goodies along the way. 

The fair welcomed a fantastic range of suppliers, including Vytal, our Bee Cup supplier. They are encouraging a shift towards reusable coffee cups on campus by offering a deposit-return scheme for takeaway cups, helping to reduce waste. Veg Box People came along as they support local and seasonal produce, offering fresh, sustainable fruit and vegetables with an emphasis on reducing food miles and packaging waste. You can pick up fruit and vegetables from The Place Cafe on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from VegBox. 

Other exhibitors included One Water, a life-changing bottled water brand, funds clean water projects around the world. Every bottle purchased contributes to providing clean drinking water in developing countries. Incredible Edible, a community-driven society promoting local, sustainable food growing. Attendees learned how they can support urban growing projects and even start their own edible gardens. FreshKeg focuses on reducing single-use packaging through reusable milk keg solutions for beverages, helping to cut down on unnecessary waste. 

As we continue our journey towards a more sustainable campus, we encourage everyone to stay engaged. Whether it’s choosing Fairtrade products, making use of reusable cups, or supporting local food initiatives, every action counts. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event a success.
