The power of community: launching One World Together community space

one world togetherUniversity of Manchester staff and students are delighted to invite you to join ‘One World Together’ in celebrating the launch of its new Community Space.

  • Friday 15 March, 3.00-4.30pm (followed by a drinks reception)
  • University Place Lecture Theatre A, The University of Manchester, Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9PL

The Community Space connects community activists with One World Together’s Global Citizens, enabling people to share and learn about new forms of support for global development.

Building on three decades of University of Manchester research, One World Together launched in 2023 to transform the landscape of funding for global development, getting more funds, on better terms, to local and community organisations in the UK and globally.

Frustrated at an international aid system marred by deep inequalities that systematically weaken and disempower local communities, co-founders Nicola Banks and Chibwe Masabo Henry designed One World Together as an affordable and radically transparent movement through which engaged Global Citizens can power an equitable and impactful future.

Rather than giving short-term and project-specific funds, One World Together works with trusted organisations in the UK and Africa over the long term, enabling communities to take control of their own destiny. Its innovative model builds financial sustainability through membership and a pool of long-term and unrestricted funding for partners through members’ monthly contributions.

Come and join us as we launch our online community space that links you, our Global Citizens, and our four partners to connect.
