Biomass (plant, animal and organic material) has enormous potential for providing us with sustainable, low-carbon bioenergy – yet, across the world, most of it is used unsustainably for fuel-wood.

On 1 November, the University hosted the fourth TeenTech Manchester event, this time delivered collaboratively with colleagues from other higher education providers as part of the Greater Manchester Higher network.

Policy@Manchester have recently published #OnEnergy, a collection of thought leadership pieces and expert analyses on issues such as climate change, fuel poverty, energy storage, the economic viability of nuclear power and multi-energy systems.

Manchester based mentoring charity, ReachOut, need more volunteers to give just one hour a week of their time to make a huge difference to the community and raise aspirations.

On Tuesday 28 November, the world will celebrate #GivingTuesday, an international day to do ‘good stuff’, to recognise what is already being done and to encourage people to consider giving time, money or supporting a worthwhile cause.

Each October we mark the University’s foundation with a prestigious Foundation Lecture and Honorary Degree Ceremony.

Science Spectacular took Manchester by storm as visitors mastered clouds and tornadoes at our 7th annual family-friendly science event.
