Social Responsibility

In 2016, the University raised over £75,000 for charity through the Great Manchester 10K.

As part of a year of social action under the banner of JustFest Presents, we are hosting a series of events that aim to engage students with current social justice issues.

The Faculty of Science and Engineering are taking examples of their work relating to Social Responsibility on a roadshow to demonstrate some of the fantastic work that goes on in the Better World Showcase.

Last week, The University of Manchester was named the first Carbon Literate university in the world as the 10,000 Actions programme is an accredited carbon literacy programme.

A project which trained older people to be researchers into the future of their city has won a major national award for its ground-breaking work, on a night when two other University of Manchester projects were also shortlisted.

Manchester is celebrating after being named the first carbon literate university and museum in the world.

On 30 November the annual Making a Difference Awards for social responsibility will open for entries.

Tuesday 29 November is Giving Tuesday – a chance to step aside from the consumerism of Christmas to think about giving time, money or supporting to a worthwhile cause

Returning for a 6th year, our University-wide family fun science day – Science Spectacular, welcomed over 1,421 visitors to Manchester Museum.

The Lord Morris of Manchester Memorial Inaugural Lecture was held on 3 November.
