Call out for Researchers – European Researchers Night, Manchester Museum 27 September 2019

by | Jul 23, 2019

Friday 27 September is European Researcher’s night and for the fifth time Manchester Museum will be hosting a special late opening showcasing Manchester’s finest researchers and their work for an adult audience.

There’ll be research on show, music, drinks and a lively atmosphere. Our participation in European Researchers Night is funded by the Natural History Museum, who have hosted this event successfully for several years across the UK. European Researcher’s Night is a Europe wide initiative, in which thousands of researchers all across Europe meet the public and share their work in a social setting.

We’d really love for you to be involved in sharing your research to a wide adult museum audience.

So to register, please read this information sheet (pdf), decide what you would like to do on the day, and then fill in our registration form using this link: https://forms.gle/6bH2BRdidFpQ1HJZA

Deadline to register is Friday 16 August, but if this will be a problem for you, please let us know.

This year’s theme is broad: Research in the City

More than half of the world’s population lives in urban areas. On one hand, our cities face a range of tough challenges, from climate change, air and water pollution, and flooding, to deprivation, social inequalities and population health. On the other hand, cities are places of innovation and enterprise, art and culture, and science and technology; where great ideas and opportunities are found.

1. Is your research connected to Manchester? Are you doing your research in Manchester? Is your research about Manchester?

2. Is your research connected to cities? Are you doing research about the urban environment, urban spaces, places or people? Does your work respond to the challenges or opportunities that arise from urban living or urbanism?

If you have any questions or queries, please contact Anna Bunney, Engagement Manager Anna.bunney@manchester.ac.uk or Alex Bennett and we will respond to you as soon as possible.

We hope you are interested in being involved, and are looking forward to hearing from you,

Anna Bunney and Alex Bennett
