Manchester Museum Stan’s Secret Santa
The University’s Manchester Museum is aiming to bring communities together through its events programme, building understanding between cultures and fostering a sense of belonging.
Stanta Claws brought joy to families across Manchester once more over the recent festive period. Manchester Museum’s beloved T. rex, Stan, donned a Santa hat for their annual Christmas gift appeal, Stan’s Secret Santa.
Organised in aid of Manchester charities Barnabus and Mustard Tree, it aims to support people experiencing poverty or homelessness.
Members of the public, as well as Museum and university staff, supported the campaign in their droves, donating food, clothes and gifts to help brighten someone’s Christmas.
This year’s appeal was also accompanied by a night of festive music, which included a singalong with Ordsall Acappella Singers and an incredible performance from the students of Olympias Music Foundation. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as the talented youngsters demonstrated everything they’d learned throughout a semester of lessons with the music charity, which is resident in the Museum’s Top Floor environmental action and social justice hub.
