In December, the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health hosted the 6th Irene Manton Lecture, in partnership with the prestigious Linnean Society of London.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the wearing of a face masks/coverings (unless exempt) is now mandatory in most situations in the UK, however wearing a face mask/covering can result in communication problems.

The hardest hit members of our community during the pandemic include older people.

The University published a report at the end of 2020 which includes case studies on how, in collaboration with others as part of the Greater Manchester region’s response, our people, expertise and civic connections have been leveraged to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

More than 700 generous people have already supported the University’s appeal to expand their world-class stroke research team with a new postgraduate researcher.

The University has a great tradition of celebrating its diverse community and in February we turn the spotlight to our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans staff and students by marking LGBT History Month.
