As part of the University constant effort to tackle sustainability issues, this academic year we launched our reduce, reuse and recycle themed weeks, run in partnership with Manchester City Council and Manchester Student Homes.

Following his election, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, announced his ambitions for making Greater Manchester one of the leading green cities in Europe.

On 25 January, national Young Carers Awareness Day, the University hosted the first Greater Manchester Higher Young Carers Day; a day designed to celebrate young carers in our local area.

The Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) is collaborating with the School of Nursing at Hong Kong Polytechnic University to deliver a new online Master’s programme in Disaster Management.

Students, staff and alumni can run for free in this year’s Great Manchester Run when they commit to fundraising to help young people from Greater Manchester to access a world-class education.
