Science Showdown II – return of the beakers – call for speakers

by | Apr 17, 2018

Are you passionate about science? Can’t wait to tell everyone about what the next inspiring scientific advances will be? And most importantly – do you believe that your area of research is the most exciting?

Well, we want you to prove it!

We invite you to take part in this year’s Science Showdown, an evening of exciting ‘open-mic’ science in three minute lightning talks, competing to be crowned 2018’s winner.

Talks should be π minutes (yes, 3minutes 14 seconds) and not be more than 2 slides, and props are encouraged!

For inspiration, last years topics ranged from ‘Is data scientist the sexiest job of the 21st century?’, ‘The universe in a nutshell’ and ‘Defining the unimaginable’….
And finally, if more motivation is necessary, there will be a prize for the victorious winner!

Join us at the Manchester Cancer Research Centre, Thursday 26 April at 6:30pm.
Register now or get in touch at thescienceshowdown@gmail.com with any questions.

The event is open to any one from The University of Manchester.

See you at the Science Showdown and let the battle commence!
