Call for participation – Being Human fest 2018

by | Mar 2, 2018

The call for applications for Being Human 2018 is now live!

Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy, Being Human Is the UK’s only national festival of the humanities, and is one of the largest national platforms for public engagement with humanities research.

This year the festival is running from 15-24 November, and our festival theme is ‘Origins and Endings’. As ever the main aim of the festival is to take research in the humanities and share it in creative, fun and engaging ways with non-specialist audiences – and we are really excited, once again, to see what you come up with this year!

There are three main pathways to getting involved:

  • ‘Open Call’ pathway: organise an activity that does not require a direct financial contribution from Being Human that will be supported and promoted as part of our programme.
  • ‘Small Awards’ pathway: apply to Being Human for funding of up to £2,000 to enable activities.
  • ‘Hub Awards’ pathway: apply for a larger grant of £2,000 – £4,000 to coordinate multiple activities as a Festival Hub. (Only a small number of these awards are made every year).

Further details, and answers to some Frequently Asked Questions are available on our website: https://beinghumanfestival.org/apply/

Many of you have been involved in the Being Human festival before and have helped the festival to grow into the largest celebration of humanities research in the UK. I hope that you’ll consider getting involved/taking part again in 2018.
