FameLab UK 2021 – registrations open

by | Jan 18, 2021

Each year, scientists across the UK develop their communication skills while engaging and entertaining audiences with current research by taking part in FameLab.

Are you interested in:

  • improving your communication skills?
  • talking about your research with a public audience?
  • joining a global network of researchers who enjoy talking about science?

FameLab UK is open to entrants 21 years old or older, studying or working in science, engineering, technology, medicine or mathematics (STEM), and based in the UK while participating. The regional winners will participate in the FameLab UK final at Cheltenham Science Festival 2021.

The rules of FameLab are few, but crucial:

  • You have 3 minutes to present any scientific, engineering, mathematical or medical topic of your choice
  • You cannot use a PowerPoint, other electronic presentation or audio recording
  • You can only use the props that you can carry onto stage yourself (there will be no time for set up)
  • If you make it through the Heats to the Regional Final you have to prepare a second presentation (which can be on the same topic but must be demonstrably different in content)

Training and heats are taking place in 9 regions around the UK, find your nearest one here.

Participants can take part in FameLab as many times as they like, and keep improving each year until they become a UK finalist!
