Online STEM engagement competitions – I’m a Scientist and I’m an Engineer – back for November

by | Sep 6, 2018

What are I’m a Scientist and I’m an Engineer?
Online events where school students get to meet and interact with scientists/engineers. It’s an X Factor-style competition between scientists/engineers, where the students are the judges. Students challenge the scientists/engineers over fast-paced online live CHATs. They ASK the scientists/engineers anything they want, and VOTE for their favourite scientist/engineer to win a prize of £500 to communicate their work with the public.

I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here will run for two weeks from Monday 5th to Friday 16th November 2018.
This November we’re running several themed zones, including:

  • Childhood Zone – a psychology zone for Sixth Form student
  • Memory Zone — a psychology zone for all year groups
  • Crystallography Zone
  • Epidemic Zone
  • Fast Computing Zone
  • Sleep Zone
  • Sustainability Zone — for primary schools
  • General Science Zones

Applications: Scientists apply by 1st October: https://imascientist.org.uk/scientist-apply/

I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here will run for two weeks from Monday 5th – Friday 16th November 2018
This November we are running two themed zones, connecting school students with engineers across the UK.

  • Space Zone
  • Millisecond Zone – a general engineering zone

Applications: Engineers apply by 1st October: https://imanengineer.org.uk/engineer-apply/

Hint: The most important part of your application is the one sentence description of your work. We ask students and teachers to rate the sentences, to help guide who gets in. So have a think how you would describe your work to a 13 year old!
