Dell STEMAspire mentoring programme
The programme has been created by Dell Technologies to explore and address the reasons behind the gender imbalance in progression from STEM degree courses to STEM careers and support further understanding of the reasons behind this data and identify further action needed.
By participating in the programme, students will be developing essential soft skills. For example, developing your “personal brand”, confident presentation skills, how to network effectively plus you will get some first-hand insights into how the tech sector works and the kind of roles that are available to follow a successful and enriching career path. The aim of the programme is make you ‘work ready’ for your career in technology.
By being part of this programme, you will receive one-to-one support from a trained mentor from within Dell Technologies. The Mentor and Mentee relationship is confidential, with goal setting, monitoring and evaluation to ensure the programmes meets students’ needs. There will also be quarterly virtual events, which will give you the opportunity to meet with other mentees. Meetings with your mentor will also be virtual, with physical meetings hopefully being possible when it is safe to do so.
Topics at the programmes events have included:
- Effective CV writing
- Interview skills
- Communication skills
- Networking and personal branding
- Personal development planning”
The online information session is from 1.30-2.15pm on the 6th October. For further info and to sign up students can follow this link (and login to CareersConnect): https://careerconnect.manchester.ac.uk/
